Melkior Completes 990 metre Drill Program on the Launay Gold Project

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Melkior Resources Inc. (TSXV-MKR) (“Melkior”) has completed drilling on its 100% owned Launay gold project located in the Abitibi mineral belt in Launay Township, Quebec.  Ten  holes totaling 990 metres were drilled with the objective to confirm historical values obtained from Zone 75 in the 1980’s and to test the geometry of the known gold zone. 634 samples were submitted for assaying (results are pending).  In addition to drilling Melkior undertook a channel sampling program.

Surface channel samples and drill core consisted of pyrite mineralization as stringers and disseminated grains hosted in altered granite. Several generations of granites were encountered and pyrite seems to be more abundant in a potassic feldspar-rich granite which is characterized by a pink color. Alteration consisting of hematite, biotite/chlorite, carbonate, epidote and locally magnetite occurred in several different zones, which also contained disseminated pyrite. Based on the recently completed drilling, the pink granite, which hosts the majority of the sulphide mineralization, is oriented 120 degrees with a dip of 60 degrees in a South-easterly direction.

Core processing included descriptive logging and systematic sampling for analysis. The drill core was sawn in half, with one half delivered to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference.  Assays were submitted to ALS CHEMEX Laboratories in Val-D’Or, Quebec and Timmins, Ontario. The processed samples were submitted to a standard Fire Assay with AA technique (Au-AA-23) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectroscopy (ME-ICP-41) on a 30 gram sub-sample.  Standards and blanks were inserted randomly into the sample shipments as part of the sampling protocol.

This Press Release was prepared by Dr. Eric Hebert, P.Geo of GeoVector Management Inc, and Qualified Persons under National Instrument 43-101. Dr. Hebert has supervised the diamond drill program, logged the core, designed the sampling program and reviewed the quality control information.
